Weather Event - June 24, 2010
Dear Neighbor: Your Village team has been hard at work since yesterdays unexpected weather event. Our crew remained hard at work into the evening and cleared the roads. Much work remains to be done and they are on the job early this morning. Last night I attended a Nassau County Emergency Management meeting. Before I left the meeting, I received assurance from National Grid repair Supervisors that an electrical crew and a tree crew was on the way to work on our electrical issues. When I surveyed the Village at 5:00AM this morning, several areas were restored (including) S. Middle Neck Road but the National Grid crew was not in our Village. We have many wires down and trees down in these areas including a pole down. STAY AWAY FROM ALL DOWNED WIRES!!!. We were not hit as badly as other areas in Great Neck and certainly health care facilities come first. When I attended the 6:00AM briefing I spoke with the National Grid Lead Emergency Planner and he assured me that they had to clear the extensive trunk lines surrounding our Village first and then they would clear the wires for our homes. They expect most will be restored by this afternoon. I will be checking with National Grid throughout the moring and until all our electric is restored. As always, I am available to address your concern. Best personal regards, MATTHEW
